The action begins in Kailua-Kona with an international field of athletes from 82 countries, splashing into the bay for the 2.4 mile ocean swim. Participants range in age from 18 to 85 this year. A 112-mile bike race up the dramatic Kona-Kohala Coast follows the swim with a 26.22-mile run capping the event.

It’s an especially interesting time to be on-island as it feels as though the entire world has gathered here for what is really nearly a week-long series of events leading up to the race on Saturday.
With live international media coverage, the event provides a great opportunity to show off the beauty of our spectacular West and North coasts which are home to some of the most exclusive oceanfront luxury communities in Hawaii.
If you’re not on-island for the 2018 Ironman World Championship, be sure to tune in for all the excitement – and be prepared to fall in love with our beautiful island and be inspired by these amazing athletes!
